Michele and I started this project in the beginning of 2017 and it took us by storm. We blew through half of Love in C Minor in two weeks, but then life happened and we had to shelf it. When we road-tripped to a signing several months later, Reagan and Ridley popped back into our heads. We knew we had to tell their tale, and soon one book turned into two. This is a story inspired by music and small-towns, forbidden romance and life-long friendships. It’s funny and it’s swoon-a-licious. The Backroads Duet grows with these characters from seventeen and eighteen-year-olds to adults. From finding themselves to finding forever. We hope that you’ll take a chance on Love in C Minor.

SYNOPSIS

Seventeen-year-old Reagan seems like the perfect small-town girl. Dubbed a saint by her older brother, Lincoln, she serves the community, makes straight A’s, attends church, spends her summers working with special needs children, and is a piano playing prodigy.

When you’re the daughter of the mayor and the police chief in a sleepy Kansas town, toeing the line is easier than the alternative.

That is, until her brother’s best friend changes the rules.

Reagan’s been subject to Ridley’s antics her entire life. Growing up, he tormented and teased her, but he kept his distance—until now. When Ridley breaks a promise, late night phone calls and secret rendezvous in the haystacks quickly transform into a reckless, all-consuming love.

Some promises are meant to be broken. Some secrets will not be contained, and sometimes the consequences we render are more than we can bear.

Excerpt

Two realizations deprive my lungs of life-sustaining breath when I step onto my back patio for the first time in two months. First, the August air is abnormally stifling in Kansas today. And second, Ridley Goss, also known as The Player, my brother's best friend, my childhood tormentor, the star of my daydreams, and the guy who-judging by his current position—can't keep his tongueout of WhitneyReidman's throat, is here. My chest aches. I'm sucking in my first deep breath since walking outside when a third realization punches me in the gut—life in Ellbury is exactly the way it was before I left. Welcome home, Reagan Meeks.

I wrote a book I hadn't planned.
I started this book at the beginning of 2017 with a very different plot, but because of a turn my life made over the summer my words broke up with me. So I scrapped the story and started fresh with a bleeding heart and a broken soul. It's a story my mind needed, my heart needed.
I never thought there would be a book that was more of my heart than Me After You, but Me To You rivals it. I hope it touches you. I hope it reaches the people it needs to reach. I hope you love it as much as I do.

XOXO
Mindy

This is a big one

Okay y'all. Are you ready for it? We've got to have a little cover chat.

This is something Michele and I have agonized over for months.

When we designed the Paper Planes and Other Things We Lost cover we had no plans for a series. We had the story for Brett and Ruby, and that's all we thought was going to happen. Then characters we grew to love were born (enter Cole and Amber) and their lives became ones we were invested in and thus Subway Stops and the Places We Meet and Chasing Cars and the Lessons We Learned started to weasel their way into our minds.

When we first got the cover ideas for The Paper Planes Series they made sense as a whole. We created them before we wrote the other stories. Paper Planes laid down the foundation. We LOVE that cover and always will. But as we finished Subway Stops and Chasing Cars the covers stopped lining up with the stories. Paper Planes is a solid YA cover with a solid YA story. The others, not so much.

So, now comes why we're here today.

We're changing the e-book covers

Why? Why would you do that? I know. I get it. Trust me. This is not a decision we made lightly. We love the Subway Stops and Chasing Cars covers too. I'm telling you. We AGONIZED over this, you guys. I drew them for goodness sake. They're as original as they come. So don't you worry your pretty little faces. They WILL remain in paperback! They'll go perfectly together on your shelf. You should buy them.

The thing is, we've learned over the last several months that Subway Stops and Chasing Cars don't reach readers packaged the way they are. When I told a good friend of mine (who is an avid contemporary romance reader) we were changing them, she looked at me with all the disappointment in the world and said, "But they're so cute!" So I said, "But if you didn't know who I was would you pick one of them up?" Her face immediately changed and she said, "You're right. I wouldn't give them a second thought."

These are standalone adult contemporary romances, people. With their current look, they appear to be YA or like a series you HAVE to read in order. Obviously, we would love for people to read all three stories. While it's great to get the entire story arc (and lovers of the series will tell you to start from the beginning), there's no reason you can't read Amber and Olle's story or Sam and Cole's without reading the other books first. We feel it's a disservice to Cole, Sam, Amber, and Olle if we don't do everything we can to get them into the hands of readers. We want everyone to know and love them as much as we do!

Here they are!

But, wait. I have more news! Other than the beautiful new covers? Yup. Steering away from matchy matchy covers, makes it A LOT easier for us to write more Paper Planes novels! You heard me. We have MORE planned! More standalone novels following other Flight 397 families—and maybe if you're lucky some characters you've grown to love with make a return. By branding each book differently it helps to give them their own identity. You can look for 'a paper planes novel' on the covers and know what you're getting—a Mindy Michele sweet romance sure to make you laugh, cry, and swoon!

Chasing Cars is LIVE

This book y'all. THIS. BOOK.

When Michele suggested we base Chasing Cars and the Lessons We Learned in Finland of course I was all over it. I've always wanted to base one of my books there, but I've been hesitant. Finnish isn't a love language. It's one of the hardest to learn. And most people know nothing about Finland. How in the world was I going to write about Finland and give the people, the culture, the country justice? Well, I had a little help. My mom who was born and raised in Finland was at my beck and call. Thanks Mama.

This book is my blood. There's so much of me in it. Parts of my parent's love story. Parts of my grandparent's love story. A character that's a mixture of my mom and grandma. I LOVE THIS BOOKS SO MUCH.

But it's so much more than the Finnish aspect. It's a book about a woman who doesn't see her worth and a dedicated man willing to go any length to show her she is more than she sees.

This book tore me apart and put me back together while writing with Michele. There were no days of writer's block or lulls that we couldn't work through. We had a story that needed to be told and it flowed seamlessly. Those are the stories I know I was meant to write. It was so hard to say goodbye to these characters at the end. The time flew by WAY too quickly. I love Olle and Amber so much, and I hope you love them too.

On June 18, 1992, Flight 397 crashed off the coast of Long Island.

After Amber Pratt lost her parents, her life turned into a downward spiral. So, she did what any twenty-one-year-old would do; she quit her life to backpack across Europe.

Olle Holström was supposed to be a fling in the wilds of Finland. A detour. That is all it should have been.

It was so much more.

A Sweet Adult Contemporary Romance, this is the third book in the Paper Planes series. It can be read as a standalone, but books 1-3 follow the members of one family and is best read together to get the complete tale.

Olle pulls my chair out. Always a gentleman. “Thank you.”
“Ole hyvä,” he says close to my ear, his hand brushing my bare shoulder as he takes the seat next to mine. Not across, the way he did during our meal at the fortress Monday.
Everything about this night feels different. Important. Shaking the meaning of our date away, I look at the menu the hostess left. English. Well, that’s a relief. I scoot forward in my seat and peruse the offerings. My leg bouncing on the toe of my fancy shoes with nerves.
“I imagine this might not be politically correct here, but I have to tell you I’ll be mildly irritated if you order the reindeer.”
He chuckles. “You do not eat deer in the States?”
“Deer, yes. Rudolph, no.”
His shoulders shake with suppressed laughter. “It is not much different, but for you, okei.”

ABOUT THE BOOK

On June 18, 1993, Flight 397 crashed off the coast of Long Island.
But this story isn’t about the crash. Not completely.
This is a story about two high school seniors living very different lives, who share one connection: they both lost parents on that fateful flight.

Slowly, letters bridge the gap between California and Pennsylvania as Ruby Kaminski and Brett Pratt find a way to remember the past while looking toward the future.

This is a story about hope, paper planes, and the other things they lost.

SNEAK A PEAK

Prologue

Dear Amber,
Did you know you’re more likely to be attacked by a shark than die in a plane crash? I find that interesting since I never go in the ocean, but I’ve been on a plane ten times. So, I guess I’m more likely to die in a plane crash than be attacked by a shark, but maybe it’s different for you.
I thought beginning this letter as if you already know me would make the concept of a total stranger writing to you a little less weird, but now that I’ve thought about it, I realize my fascination with plane crash facts might be weirder. But I like weird. So, hi. If you didn’t catch it from my return address, I’m Ruby Kaminski from Fremonton, California. My mom died on Flight 397 with your parents. Though, can we really say they died when we have no idea what actually happened to them? Let’s refer to them as MIA. No, I’m not in denial. I’m painfully aware that they aren’t coming back, but I like facts. And the truth of the matter is most of the people on Flight 397 are MIA.
You’re probably wondering how I managed to get your address. I have my ways. Besides, I thought it might be good to connect with someone who understands what I’m going through. Though I believe our circumstances are entirely different, and there’s no way for me to understand what you’re going through, I’m hoping we can relate to one another on some level.
Do you ever wonder if, after the plane exploded, the passengers were washed up onto a remote island, and now they are kicking back, drinking coconut milk, and sun tanning under a palm tree? Maybe they are eating fresh seafood cooked over a fire and sleeping under the stars?
It’s a nice thought, don’t you think?
If you’re okay with weird, feel free to write me back. I’m full of it.
Sincerely,
Ruby Kaminski

The Evolution Of The Day That Saved Us

You know how The Day Duology was once one book? The Day That Saved Us. And then as the story evolved it made more sense for me to make it two books? So, it got two shiny new covers for The Day That Changed Us and The Day That Saved Us.

WELL. Forget all of that. The Day Duology is back to one book. I KNOW. Pick a concept and stick with it, Mindy. This is getting ridiculous. I promise this decision was not taken lightly. My editor is in the process of reading both books, and it made the most sense to combine them once again. So the good news is, rather than getting two shorter books, you'll be getting one LONG one! YAY! Hopefully, this is good news for most of you.

Now moving on to the important stuff, like well... what are you going to do about the cover now? Go back to the old one? Do a combination of the second two? The answer is: neither. The very first cover didn't feel quite right to go back to, so I enlisted the lovely Starla Huchton again (she has so much patience with me it's not even funny) to work out another new TDTSU cover with me. Let me just show you how much patience she has.

I present you, The Evolution Of 'The Day That Saved Us'.

Starla loves me. She really does. You counted right. There are 12 there, and that doesn't include all of the different test fonts on every one of them. I'm such a visual person, I have to see ALL THE OPTIONS. Some of these are actually from the very first round of cover mock ups. Some are more recent. Some I mocked up(so if they look amateur, they are...haha). Most of them Starla did. You may even recognize the original TDTSU cover in there. But none of them screamed at me that it was THE ONE! I wanted something new and refreshing and nothing was sitting right. UNTIL...

FINALLY, after design after design AFTER DESIGN, we found the winner! It encompasses everything I hoped it would. I'm praying y'all agree cuz it ain't changing! This is it. This is what you get! And if I try to change it again, tell me NO.

SYNOPSIS:

BEFORE life wasn’t perfect. Peyton Parker was grieving the loss of her father. Brodee Fisher was battling for control over his future with his father. But every summer their families came together to rejuvenate and lose themselves in the salt air of Cape Hatteras. Nothing could put a damper on the sun, sand, and surf.

AFTER everything changed.

NOW, I know what you really want to know is, when is it coming, Mindy?? You keep saying it's coming soon, but how soon?  Clearly, I've hit a few bumps along the way with this one, which is the biggest reason why I haven't given any release dates that I'd have to backtrack on. I want it to be perfect before it hits your hands. So, keep being patient. We're getting so close. Keep an eye out for it. I promise once I publish it I'll shout it from the mountaintops!

The Day That Saved Us Cover Reveal

So, I started this book a few years back. It was actually the first book I ever started, but the story never felt quite right. It's evolved so many times over the years, it's not even the same book. But I'm SUPER excited about it! And hopefully you are too!

Thanks to my Fierce Four sister Starla Huchton who designed this AMAZINGLY PERFECT cover!

BLURB:

Hatteras was where my life began and ended each year.
Two months of surf, sun and Brodee.
Our last summer was going to change everything.
My family was going to heal.
Brodee was going to love me.
But secrets tend to unravel the seams in perfect plans.
And there was one secret that had the power to unravel my entire world.

COMING: SUMMER 2015
