A Fighting Chance Cover Reveal

HEY Y'ALL! I know recently all I've posted are cover reveals. I've been so immersed in Luminary since my long writing hiatus that I haven't done much else aside from write for the last month!(I promise to get back on track as soon as Luminary is finished! ...which is hopefully SOON.) This cover reveal is EXTRA special because Brittany Delys was my first indie author friend and the cover was designed by none other than my Fierce Five sister, Starla Huchton! I've read some early drafts of A Fight Chance and you're going to love Ethan!

A Fighting Chance is the second book in The Triad Series. So, if you haven't checked out Just A Touch(The Triad #1) read up about it HERE!

“Why does it have to be him? Couldn’t it have been someone else that Jade saw? Not him, anyone but Ethan.”

Nineteen year old, enlisted Marine, Ethan Mitchell is completely unaware of the happenings in his hometown of Bakers Ridge. Having just completed boot camp, Ethan heads straight to Arianna’s front door expecting to surprise her and be welcomed back into her life with open arms. What he encounters, however, is anything but what he expects; leaving him with more unanswered questions and conflict than the day he left.

Newly appointed Guardian, Bianca Dawson, with her small stature and delicate features, continually has to fight to be recognized for what she truly is. When she’s appointed as Guardian to the Healer, Bianca begins a journey that will put all of her abilities and training to the test. With the threat to the Triad escalating, Bianca will do everything it takes to protect them—even if it means sacrificing herself in the process.

When Ethan’s true identity is revealed, Bianca will stop at nothing to help him realize who he truly is. Through heartache, betrayal, forgiveness, and love, will Bianca be able to convince the Fighter to accept his destiny or will he continue to deny it, ultimately losing the people he cares about forever?

Kaleiodoscope Turns ONE YEAR OLD

Today marks Kaleidoscope's ONE YEAR mark since its release! ONE YEAR, people. How crazy is that?! A part of me feels like I've been doing this my whole life while the other part feels like I just uploaded Kaleidoscope yesterday. *sigh*

Over the last year I've learned so much and have connected with so many great people. Not to mention I was introduced to my Fierce Five, whom without I would be lost. I'm just so grateful to be where I am.

Now if you've already read Kaleidoscope, but don't have a paperback yet, you can go to my Facebook page. I'm GIVING AWAY a SIGNED copy! Just head on over to my page to see how to enter!

Updates For My Loves

Hey y'all... I know it's been a little bit since you've really heard any writing updates from me so I wanted to give you something... But I'm afraid it's not good news. For the last few months I've been trying so hard to get something down in Luminary. Day after day I've pulled it up and done my best to push the story along, but unfortunately there's been a lot of personal stuff that's gone on that has made writing really difficult. I haven't been in the right place to give you Faylinn fans the story you deserve. I know where the story is going, but you guys have been so awesome, I don't want to push a story of crap just to get you something as soon as possible.  I want Faylinn to end with a bang and go above an beyond your expectation. You deserve something GREAT. I said Luminary would be out sometime this Summer, but I'm going to have to just give it an indefinite 2014 release date.

I'll be taking a little break from writing for a bit, so I can get my crap together. I won't even be working on other projects. So, don't think I'm just pushing Luminary aside for Me Without You like I  did after Ember for Me After You. I'm putting it all on hold. This has been a really hard decision to make. I didn't want to take a break. I just wanted to give you Luminary, but I also want to do the story justice and I just can't do that right now. I hope y'all understand.

I do have the Luminary photo shoot coming up next month, so look for updates on that! Maybe you'll even get some behind the scenes images. ;) The cover reveal will probably be sometime in April or May.

I love y'all so much and promise to keep you updated! <3

Top THREE books of 2013

In years passed I've always done a top 10 list of my favorite books of the year, but that's when I was reading 75 - 100 books a year. This year I didn't get as much reading time in. I didn't even get to read 50 books this year...haha. It was more like 30. This actually makes me really sad because I know there were a lot of good books out there this year that I didn't get to read. But I'm cutting myself some slack. I self-published THREE books, finalized Kaleidoscope, finished writing Ember, wrote Me After You, began Luminary and Willowhaven #2 as well as tried to keep up with my personal life. It's been one HECK of a year! So I just wanted to share my top 3 favorite books of this year with you.

If you want to read what they are about click on the title. I've linked them to their Goodreads page! That way you don't rely solely on what I say. The other reviews speak for themselves.

1.Clockwork Princess

If y'all aren't aware...I LOVE Cassandra Clare. Like...a lot. I devoured The Mortal Instruments series. And Iinhaled The Infernal Devices series. Clockwork Princess is the third book in the series and by far my favorite one! Cassandra Clare is one of those writers that can equally write anything. She can write action and humor and romance and wit and suspense, etc... This woman does it all in every one of her books. Not to mention her character development is like no other. Clockwork Princess did NOT disappoint! Do yourself a favor if you haven't already and read the Infernal Devices.

"I want you to be happy, and him to be happy. And yet when you walk that aisle to meet him and join yourselves forever you will walk an invisible path of the shards of my heart, Tessa. I would give over my own life for your happiness. I thought perhaps that when you told me you did not love me that my own feelings would fall away and atrophy, but they have not. They have grown every day. I love you now more desperately, this moment, than I have ever loved you before, and in an hour I will love you more than that."

2.Just One Day

You ever want to read a book that gives you all the feels? That pulls all your heartstrings and sews you back up? This is it. Gayle Forman wrote If I Stay/Where She went, easily two of my favorite books OF ALL TIME, but you guys already know that. She is a master of words. Gayle could write a novel on a roll of toilet paper and I would still read it. Just One Day is no exception. It's apart of a duology just like IIS/WSW. The second book is called Just One Year and like her other two, the first book gives the female perspective and the second gives the male. I love her male perspectives so I have no doubt that Just One Year will be just as good!

"We are born in one day. We die in one day. We can change in one day. And we can fall in love in one day. Anything can happen in just one day."

3. The Opportunist

Oh, The fetching Opportunist. You want a book to tear your heart out? This is it. Or well, it's only the beginning. This is the first book in the three-book series and to me, it's the best one. Though you will find no perfectly wrapped up HEA here, this book will consume you. It's a messy love story. Tarryn Fisher has a way with words. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. And after I finished it, I couldn't pick up another book for like a month. Talk about a book hangover. No book I've ever read tops that. You might even remember me talking about it here at the beginning of the year. Folks, it still gets to me when I think about it nearly a year later.

"You will remember me every day for the rest of your life because I was the one and you threw me away."

What's in a Title? Freaking Everything.

This book titling business is hard. Writing a book... I've got this. Done and Done. Trying to title it... Shoot me now. Most self-published or indie authors would probably agree. You're not only trying to pick something that encompasses your book, but it should be original and intriguing and perfect and simply make sense. Titling one book is hard enough, but titling 3 that need to have a common link and still encompass a story...that has proved to be the HARDEST for me. It's taken me at least 6 months to come up with a title for Faylinn #3 and it wasn't even me who threw the word out there. Thank you friends and family for all your suggestions!

In case you missed it on Facebook I titled Faylinn #3. So, I figured now was a good time as any to give you a little insight as to why I've chosen the titles I have for the Faylinn Novels thus far. I don't know if anyone has actually caught on to the common theme with the Faylinn titles. Maybe with the reveal of the third one it will all makes more sense.

Kaleidoscope (Faylinn #1): You typically need light to look through a kaleidoscope and see all the different colors and shapes. And every time you see something different.  Calliope has to look at life in a different light with each passing day. She learns more and more about herself and her background as the story progresses and information changes and unfolds.

Ember (Faylinn #2): It probably speaks for itself. Embers emit light. They are what's remains after a fire has died down, but if not taken care of properly can reignite. For the sake of not adding spoilers for those of you who have not read it yet, I'll let those who have read it mull it over and come up with your own conclusions.

And for the final one!

Luminary (Faylinn #3):
1. A person who inspires or influences others.
2. An object, such as a celestial body, that gives light.
You will just have to see how this title will play out when the third one comes!

ME AFTER YOU RELEASE DAY! ...a little early

Me After You turned out to be ahead of schedule(this never happens to me), so last night I hit PUBLISH! I toyed with just waiting for the release date, but I've never been a very patient person. So you're welcome. I think.

Release day is always an equally stressful and exciting day. Will people even buy it? Will they like it? Will it live up to expectations? Will it completely flop?

I've had more anxiety over releasing MAY than Kaleidoscope and Ember COMBINED. There were days where I even second-guessed publishing it at all. A part of me wanted to just keep it to myself. Because it's so close to my heart, I fear negative feedback like the plague. Even after I hit publish last night I wanted to go back and somehow unpublish it. haha.

If people don't like Kaleidoscope and Ember, I'm fine. It's okay. I realize fantasy and faeries aren't for everyone, and I also realize it's not the most original story out there. So if you don't like it, it's okay. It rolls off my back like water off a duck. But this book is my soul. This book will be the one that forces me to grow thick skin and it's taken me months to gear up for that.

I was talking to my Fierce 5 (a group of indie authors whom I love with all my heart) last night and one of them put me at ease by saying, "That fear means you did something right." So here's to hoping you agree!

Thanks to wonderful friends and family that told me I was crazy/stupid for not putting Me After You out there, you now get to read it, if you so choose. And you should. Choose to.

Okay I'm done rambling now. You can go buy it HERE or HERE!

If you're a little unsure about it, then just get a sample! Ain't nothin' wrong with that!

So, what are you waiting for? Go! BUY! And hopefully enjoy:)
